When you think of a South Florida photo session, your mind probably goes right to the beach — and don’t get me wrong, I love the beach. I’m just a sucker for blue water and water play. But I also love that South Florida offers something more wild: Jonathan Dickinson State Park.
Just a quick drive inland from Jupiter or Hobe Sound, Jonathan Dickinson offers a totally different vibe — think pine flatwoods, palmetto-lined trails, sun-drenched fields, and wide open skies. It’s peaceful, it’s earthy, and it’s full of the kind of natural beauty that takes your breath away in a quiet way.
The Light Here? Unreal.
I talk about light a lot — maybe too much — but honestly, it’s kind of everything. And the light at JD? Chef’s kiss.
It peeks through the trees. Glows low over the fields. It’s golden and soft and wraps everything in this warm, dreamy haze. The Hobe Mountain lookout is THE front seat to the most spectacular Florida sunsets imaginable. It’s not the kind of place where you have to do much. Just show up. Let go. I’ll take care of the rest.
Perfect for Families, Couples, and Wild Hearts
If you’ve got littles, this place is magic. There’s room to explore, get a little messy, and not worry about sand in every crevice (a nice bonus). I just follow the fun — the sticks they pick up, the races they start, the giggles you didn’t know I caught.
And if it’s just the two of you? Even better. There’s a stillness here that invites real connection. No distractions. Just the two of you and nature doing its thing.
Not Your Typical South Florida Session
Everyone knows the beach. It’s beautiful — and I’ll always shoot there. But sometimes, it’s nice to switch it up.
Jonathan Dickinson brings a totally different kind of energy. A little more rugged. A little more grounded. But still full of light, love, and that untamed South Florida beauty.
